A proposito di Hymalaya, se può interessare, qualche tempo fa mi sono interessato delle modifiche delle tariffe per l'accesso alla catena montuosa, stabilite dalle autorità nepalesi.

Chi è Vagamondo ? Who is Vagamondo ?

ITA: Sognare è umano, ma andare oltre ai sogni può diventare divino. Nel 2005, appena ventenne, ho fatto la scelta di iniziare a viaggiare andando a Tarifa, in Spagna, a cercare lavoro. Ho dovuto mettermi sulla strada per rimediare a un forte malessere autodistruttivo che stava devastando la mia vita. Da quel primo passo è iniziata una straordinaria evoluzione che è diventata il senso della mia vita. Per tre anni ho vissuto e lavorato tra Spagna, Pakistan, Australia e nuovamente Spagna. Ho provato mestieri di ogni genere: aiuto cuoco, muratore, cooperante umanitario, barista, operaio, imbianchino. Poi sono dovuto tornare a casa ad affrontare una tragedia familiare che mi ha tenuto fermo per qualche anno, ma che mi ha fatto maturare parecchio. Ho trovato un impiego in una ditta che realizzava impianti fotovoltaici. Ma non mi sentivo realizzato e sapevo che non stavo sfruttando al meglio i migliori anni della mia giovinezza così, nel momento opportuno, mi sono licenziato.

L’8 ottobre del 2011 sono partito per un’avventura particolare come il giro del mondo senza aerei per riprendermi la vita di viaggio che mi stavo creando anni prima. Ho percorso circa 100.000 km via terra e mare, attraversato 24 Paesi in 530 giorni. Un’esperienza di un’intensità straordinaria che mi ha cambiato radicalmente nella percezione della Vita e del Mondo. Tornato in Italia, ho autopubblicato il diario di viaggio "Vagamondo, il giro del mondo senza aerei" e improvvisamente sono stato travolto da un imprevisto successo. Decine di migliaia di copie vendute, tanti mesi nella classifica dei bestseller. La più grande casa editrice italiana mi ha offerto un contratto ma io l’ho rifiutato, decidendo di proseguire per la mia strada, libera e indipendente. Ho tradotto e pubblicato il primo libro in inglese, facendo nascere "Vagamondo, around the world without flying", ora disponibile in diversi Paesi. Poi, spinto dall’interesse della gente, ho scritto e pubblicato anche La Fabbrica del Viaggio, un sintetico manuale per chi è alle prime armi con il viaggio in solitaria e via terra. Anche la nuova pubblicazione è entrata subito tra i bestseller, mentre Vagamondo diventava il libro più venduto dell’anno 2016 sul più grande distributore online in Italia nella categoria “Viaggi”. Nel frattempo ho continuato a viaggiare e a conoscere nuove culture, approfondendo soprattutto l’India e la Svezia. Ad aprile 2017 ho terminato un viaggio dal Messico a Panama in autobus, scrivendo il mio terzo libro in italiano. Vagamondo 2.0, Centro America via terra e tre anni di Esperienza racconta le avventure seguite al giro del mondo, tra il 2013 e il 2017. La gestione di una guesthouse in India, un corso di massaggio tradizionale in Thailandia e la pratica tra India e Myanmar, il viaggio dalla Sicilia a Capo Nord tagliando tutta l’Europa in furgone, per finire con la traversata del Centro America.

Poi, dopo aver viaggiato quasi tutti i continenti, ho deciso di concludere il mio grande progetto di viaggi via terra con l’ultimo rimasto, ovvero l’Africa, viaggiando con trasporti pubblici e autostop dal Sudafrica alla Norvegia nei punti più estremi. Questo viaggio ha fatto nascere la quinta pubblicazione: Vagamondo 3.0, dal Capo di Buona Speranza a Capo Nord senza staccare i piedi da terra. Nel 2019 ho proseguito con altre avventure tra India, Sri Lanka, Thailandia e Giappone per tornare in Europa a lavorare nei festival promuovendo i libri anche in inglese o organizzando ritiri in Italia. Ha preso vita Etna Therapy dove assieme a due amici abbiamo sviluppato arti e pratiche come lo yoga, il massaggio, la danza con una inedita scuola di viaggio per formare nuovi viaggiatori. Nell'autunno ho deciso di tornare in Sud America per una nuova stupenda esperienza di vita: la traversata, in barca, di tutta la foresta amazzonica da Lima, in Perù, a Belem, in Brasile. Nel mentre mi sono dedicato alla scrittura e nel gennaio 2020 ho pubblicato un intenso libro autobiografico sul passato oscuro che mi ha portato a vivere questa vita da nomade: "Quel primo passo, la cruda storia di Vagamondo". Appena uscito diventa il terzo libro più venduto in Italia nella classifica generale di tutti i libri.

La mia missione è diffondere il viaggio come medicina dell’anima.

ENG: Dreaming is human, but going beyond dreams can become divine. In 2005, just twenty years old, I made the choice to start traveling by going to Tarifa, Spain, to look for a job. I had to put myself on the road to remedy a strong self-destructive malaise that was devastating my life. From that first step an extraordinary evolution began which became the meaning of my life. For three years I lived and worked between Spain, Pakistan, Australia and again Spain. I have tried all kinds of jobs: assistant cook, bricklayer, humanitarian cooperant, bartender, worker and painter. Then I had to go home to face a family tragedy that kept me stuck for a few years, but that made me mature a lot. I found a job in a company that built photovoltaic plants. But I didn't feel fulfilled and I knew that I wasn't exploiting the best years of my youth so, at the right time, I quit.

On October 8, 2011, I left for a special adventure such as traveling around the world without flying to take back the travel life that I was creating years before. I traveled about 100,000 km by land and sea, crossed 24 countries in 530 days. An experience of extraordinary intensity that has radically changed me in the perception of Life and the World. Back in Italy, I self-published the travel diary "Vagamondo, around the world without flying" and suddenly I was overwhelmed by an unexpected success. Tens of thousands of copies sold, many months in the bestseller ranking. The largest Italian publishing house offered me a contract but I refused it, deciding to continue on my way, free and independent. I translated and published the first book in English, now available in several countries. Then, driven by the interest of the people, I also wrote and published “The trip factory”, a synthetic manual for those who are beginners with solo and overland travel. The new publication also immediately entered among the bestsellers, while Vagamondo became the best-selling book of the year 2016 on the largest online distributor in Italy in the "Travel" category. In the meantime, I continued to travel and learn about new cultures, especially deepening India and Sweden. In April 2017 I finished a trip from Mexico to Panama by bus, writing my third book in Italian. “Vagamondo 2.0, Central America by land and three years of experience” tells the adventures followed the trip around the world, among 2013 and 2017. The management of a guesthouse in India, a traditional massage course in Thailand and the practice between India and Myanmar, the journey from Sicily to the North Cape by cutting all of Europe in a van, ending with the crossing of Central America.

Then, after traveling almost all the continents, I decided to end my big land travel project with the last one left, Africa, traveling with public transport and hitchhiking from South Africa to Norway in the most extreme places. This trip gave birth to the fifth publication: “Vagamondo 3.0, from the Cape of Good Hope to the North Cape without taking your feet off the ground”. In 2019 I continued with other adventures among India, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Japan to return to Europe to work in festivals promoting the books also in English or organizing retreats in Italy. Etna Therapy came to life where together with two friends we developed arts and practices such as yoga, massage, dance with a new travel school to train new travelers. In the autumn I decided to return to South America for a wonderful new life experience: the crossing, by boat, of the entire Amazon rainforest from Lima, Peru, to Belem, Brazil. In the meantime I dedicated myself to writing and in January 2020 I published an intense autobiographical book on the dark past that led me to live this nomadic life: "That first step, the raw story of Vagamondo". As soon as it is released it became the third best-selling book in Italy in the general ranking of all books.

My mission is to spread travel as a medicine for the soul.
